My Australian Experience with Plum Digital Hub
There are moments in life that take us completely by surprise—experiences that shift our perspective, warm our hearts, and make us realize the depth of kindness and generosity that people are capable of. My one-week trip to Australia in 2023, made possible by Plum Digital Hub, was one of those rare and unforgettable moments.
It was more than just a work trip—it was a gift. A once-in-a-lifetime experience that left a lasting impression on me, not only because of the new places I saw or the food I tasted, but because of the people who made it all happen. Rach and Aaron of Plum Digital Hub went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed, valued, and part of their family.
The Surprise of a Lifetime
When I first heard that I was going to be flown to Australia from the Philippines, I was speechless. It’s not every day that an employer offers such a generous opportunity, and to say I was overwhelmed with gratitude would be an understatement. Rach and Aaron’s thoughtfulness went beyond anything I could have imagined. It wasn’t just about work—it was about connection, appreciation, and building something meaningful beyond professional boundaries.
Home Away from Home
Upon arriving in Australia, I was warmly welcomed and settled into the Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway. The hotel was comfortable, cozy, and a perfect home base for the week ahead. Nestled in the heart of Wangaratta, it offered both convenience and a sense of calm—a peaceful retreat after days filled with adventure and new discoveries.
From the very beginning, Rach and Aaron were hands-on. They weren’t just managers or leaders—they were hosts, guides, and above all, friends. They took time out of their busy schedules to personally tour me around their beautiful hometown and its neighbouring regions. Their hospitality was heartfelt and unwavering.
Meeting the Family
One of the most special aspects of this trip was getting to meet the entire family. I had the pleasure of spending time with their wonderful daughters, Zoe and Sophie, who were full of life and joy. Their pet dog, Guz, quickly became a favorite companion as well. There’s something deeply comforting about being embraced not just by colleagues but by their families too.
It reminded me that Plum Digital Hub isn’t just a workplace—it’s a community. A family. And I felt completely at home in theirs.
Embracing Australian Culture
Throughout the week, I was immersed in Australian culture in the most authentic way possible. We explored Wangaratta and then ventured out to nearby towns and cities—Glenrowan, Benalla, Bendigo, and Melbourne. Each place had its own charm and story to tell.

A Culinary Adventure
Speaking of food, I must say—Australian cuisine was an adventure in itself. Rach and Aaron made sure I tried as much local food as possible, and every meal was a new experience. From classic Aussie Steaks, Pies café brunches, every bite told a story of the place and its people.
I particularly enjoyed the fresh produce and the relaxed dining atmosphere and Beers too!. Meals weren’t just about eating—they were about sharing, bonding, and enjoying the moment. We laughed over coffees, shared stories over dinner, and toasted to memories made and friendships strengthened.
Reflections on a Grateful Heart
Throughout the trip, I found myself pausing often—just to take it all in. The scenery, the people, the warmth of the welcome I received. It’s rare to find a workplace that treats you like family, and even rarer to be gifted an experience that enriches not just your professional journey but your personal one as well.
Plum Digital Hub has been more than just a job for me. It’s been a place of growth, creativity, and belonging. And this trip solidified what I already knew: that I am part of something truly special.
I’ve worked with amazing people, learned from some of the best, and contributed to meaningful projects—but most importantly, I’ve been treated with kindness and respect. This trip was a culmination of that culture of care that Rach and Aaron have cultivated within Plum.
Falling in Love with Australia
Australia, with its open landscapes, friendly people, and easygoing lifestyle, quickly won my heart. There’s a simplicity to life there that I found incredibly refreshing. People take their time. They enjoy their surroundings. They value quality time and genuine conversations. And I got to be part of that, if only for a week.
I returned to the Philippines with a suitcase full of memories and a heart full of gratitude. I felt enriched—not just with new experiences, but with a renewed sense of purpose and appreciation for the people I work with and the path I’m on.
Lasting Gratitude
This experience is one I’ll carry with me forever. It’s something I’ll tell my children and grandchildren about one day—a chapter in my life that reminded me of the good in people, the value of generosity, and the beauty of being embraced by a family that you didn’t expect but are incredibly lucky to have found.
To Rach and Aaron—thank you. Thank you for your generosity, for your time, and for opening your hearts and home to me. Thank you for believing in your people and for making us feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Your leadership is defined not just by your vision, but by your kindness.
And to everyone at Plum Digital Hub—thank you for being part of this journey with me. We may be spread across countries and time zones, but the bond we share is real and strong.
Australia will always have a special place in my heart. And this trip will forever be one of the highlights of my life.

With deep appreciation and warmth,
Erwin
